چکیده
ABSTRACT Objective: The aim of this cross-sectional study was to evaluate the anatomical characteristics edentulous residual ridges in stone casts complete dentures users and assess correlations with masticatory efficiency. Methods: sample included 74 casts, which 37 were higher bottom. Measurements performed using a drypoint compass transparent ruler. Arches maxillae mandibles classified into small, medium, large. Masticatory efficiency obtained by sieve method old prostheses 3 months after placement new prostheses. between variables arches (height, width size) verified Spearman correlation test. Significant differences efficiencies assessed Wilcoxon Results: People larger maxillary alveolar ridge presented better performance dentures. There no size efficiency, but found arch evaluated Conclusions: With dentures, had tendency for significance. For mandible, height, width, or length, In addition, there significant difference maxilla, height influence anatomy little on performance.

Mandibular residual ridge shape and the masticatory ability in complete denture wearers.
PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of mandibular residual ridge shape on the masticatory ability in complete denture wearers. METHODS The subject group consisted of 199 complete denture wearers. The mandibular residual ridge of each subject was evaluated using a replica of the ridge which was obtained with heavy-body silicone impression material. The basal area...
متن کاملImpact of mandibular conventional denture and overdenture on quality of life and masticatory efficiency.
The aim of this non-randomized controlled clinical trial was to evaluate the oral health-related quality of life and masticatory efficiency of patients rehabilitated with mandibular two-implant overdentures with immediate loading or conventional dentures. Fifty completely edentulous patients wearing bimaxillary conventional dentures, for at least one year, were recruited. The patients were then...

متن کاملThe influence of mandibular ridge anatomy on treatment outcome with conventional complete dentures.
Since prognostic indicators are likely to take on increasing importance as a diagnostic tool for selection of patients for implant provision, this study investigated the influence of the shape and resiliency of the mandibular alveolar ridge on the retention and stability of conventional complete dentures. Ninety- three edentulous patients wearing both maxillary and mandibular conventional compl...
متن کاملDecreasing of residual alveolar ridge height in complete denture wearers. A five year follow up study.
The resorption of the residual alveolar ridges is a chronic and continuous process of bone remodeling. The aim of this study was to analyse the rate of residual ridge resorption at different sites in the both jaws in complete denture wearers, through a five-year period of denture wearing. Residual ridge changes were measured on successive lateral cephalograms at 5 measurement points of the maxi...
